Ziata Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2017 Review
Barrel fermented, slight oak exposure, weekly lees stirring. These are all elements of winemaking used most often for Chardonnay but Karen Cakebread and Jennifer Williams applied these practices to Sauvignon Blanc they sourced from all over Napa. The result is a unique, vanilla tinged wine that begs for food pairings, and not just salads, but even some lean proteins. There is a nice package of aromas in the glass, from tropical fruit to lemongrass and some hay. With such high alcohol, this is not a Sauvignon Blanc to sip while watching the sunset, unless there is a full meal in front of you.
